Ethereum white paper predicted DeFi but missed NFTs: Vitalik Buterin
Rounding up the last decade, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin revisited his predictions made over the years, showcasing a knack for being right about abstract ideas than on-production software development issues. Buterin started the Twitter thread by addressing his article dated Jul. 23, 2013 in which he highlighted Bitcoin's (BTC) key benefits — internationality and censorship resistance. Buterin foresaw Bitcoin’s potential in protecting the citizens’ buying power in countries such as Iran, Argentina, China and Africa. However, Buterin also noticed a rise in stablecoin adoption as he saw Argentinian businesses operating in Tether (USDT). He backed up his decade-old ideas around …

Dogecoin Foundation works with Ethereum co-founder on DOGE staking
The Dogecoin Foundation, a non-profit organization behind the meme-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE), is working on a staking mechanism in collaboration with Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The Foundation on Thursday released its Dogecoin Trailmap or a “dog-walk” that the Dogecoin Foundation is committed to exploring and which it believes would contribute to Dogecoin’s success. As part of the trailmap, the Dogecoin Foundation is working with Buterin on building a “uniquely Doge proposal” for a “community staking” version of proof-of-stake (PoS). Such a version would allow all Dogecoin users to stake their DOGE and get extra tokens for supporting the network, the …

Key data points suggest the crypto market’s short-term correction is over
The performance of cryptocurrencies in the past 7 days might have seemed slightly unexciting, especially since the total market capitalization increased by “only” 1.8% to reach $2.7 trillion. However, even with the muted price action, some altcoins managed a decent rally. Bitcoin (BTC), on the other hand, was down 6% until Nov. 28, but it still managed to close the week up 1.5% after a $3,200 rally on Sunday night. Metaverse tokens are still pushing to new highs The metaverse sector continued to outperform with Gala (GALA), The Sandbox (SAND), and Decentraland (MANA) among the top 5 gainers. While few …

Vitalik Buterin proposes calldata limit per block to lower ETH gas costs
Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a new limit on the total transaction calldata in a block to decrease the overall transaction calldata gas cost over the ETH network. Buterin’s post on the Ethereum Magicians forum, EIP-4488, highlights concerns regarding high transaction fees on Layer-1 blockchains for rollups and the considerable amount of time to implement and deploy data sharding: “Hence, a short-term solution to further cut costs for rollups, and to incentivize an ecosystem-wide transition to a rollup-centric Ethereum, is desired.” While the entrepreneur cited an alternative wherein the gas costs parameters could be decreased without further adding …

Vitalik Buterin shares positive outlook on the establishment of crypto cities
In a blog post published on Sunday, Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin voiced his support for utilizing the cryptocurrency phenomena to serve the interests of local governments and their citizens. Specifically, Buterin discussed the formation of city tokens and decentralized autonomous organizations, known as DAOs. DAOs are self-governing organizations where users draft and enforce rules themselves, such as voting on protocol amendments based on the amount of the underlying crypto tokens they hold. The idea is still in its infancy. Nevertheless, Buterin claimed that city tokens should satisfy at least three of the following five objectives: Act as a sustainable …

Vitalik talks DAOs, Ethereum and NFTs in new interview
In a recent podcast interview with The Stakeborg Talks, co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin spoke candidly on a wide range of issues, including his early attraction to mathematics and problem-solving, the potential of decentralized autonomous organizations, or DAOs, his perspective on Bitcoin’s community and the nonfungible token, or NFT, space. Answering an inquiry as to his preference for career title, Buterin — a modest entrepreneur with an animated passion for his profession — referred to himself as a tech philosopher, and as such, perhaps, coined the term. Paraphrasing the infamous scholar and warrior quote from Athenian historian Thucydides, Buterin drew …

DOGE co-founder sets sights on Ethereum bridge and NFTs for mass adoption
Dogecoin (DOGE) co-founder Billy Markus has set his sights on nonfungible tokens (NFT) and an Ethereum-to-Dogecoin bridge to help bring about mass adoption of the meme coin. In a Thursday tweet, Markus emphasized the importance of completing the Ethereum–Dogecoin bridge so that the asset could be integrated with top Ethereum-based NFT platforms such as OpenSea, enabling nonfungible purchases with DOGE. Markus said that there is “high demand” to purchase NFTs within the crypto community and that enabling NFT purchases with DOGE “greatly increases its utility.” DOGE being implemented into the NFT ecosystem would be a huge benefit to the community! …

Prioritizing humanity ahead of profits through NFTs
Humanity is facing more problems than climate change. The world is confronted with some of the greatest challenges of our time: world hunger, growing inequality and economic instability. Many believe that the root cause of the entire range of problems faced by humanity is the expansion of the political power of elites as income and wealth distribution becomes more polarized. Since our beginning, we have used technology to account for value created or exchanged. Humans created the concept of money as a way to reward contributions to society; however, money as we now know it is corrupt. Currently, we are …

Vitalik: ‘More confident about the merge’ following Ethereum’s successful London upgrade
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has hailed the London hard fork a success, adding that it has given him more confidence over the upcoming merge to the Ethereum 2.0 chain. Speaking to Bloomberg News from Singapore, Buterin said that the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 1559 is “definitely the most important part of London.” The upgrade, which went live on Thursday, has tweaked the fee generation mechanism resulting in a portion of the fees being burnt. At the time of writing, more than 3,500 Ether (ETH) worth around $9.8 million had already been burned since the upgrade launched. Buterin stated that the …

During an interview with Bloomberg TV, Lubin was questioned on the imminent Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) 1559 upgrade, which will see Ethereum transition away from a bidding-based fee market to a fixed price and burn mechanism. Lubin stated that the London hard fork is part of a broader global movement, in which the first step is the “democratization of the Earth,” and the second step is the …
