SEC could approve Bitcoin futures ETF in October, analysts predict
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission is likely to approve a Bitcoin (BTC) futures exchange-traded fund (ETF) by the end of October, according to Bloomberg ETF experts. Bloomberg ETF analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart issued an investor note on Tuesday suggesting that last week’s abrupt withdrawals of Ether (ETH) futures ETF proposals by VanEck and ProShares could trigger the SEC’s approval of a Bitcoin ETF. “VanEck and ProShares’ rapid withdrawal of proposals for Ethereum futures ETFs is a good sign for a potential Bitcoin futures ETF, given the SEC has allowed those filing to remain active. A launch …

FTX’s Bankman-Fried remains cautious about nascent NFT space
In an interview with CNBC’s Street Signs Asia released Tuesday, Sam Bankman-Fried expressed optimistic caution surrounding the pace of nonfungible tokens’ (NFT) growth over the last year, warning investors that they could become vulnerable to the volatile market dynamics if improperly educated in the space. The 29-year-old crypto entrepreneur and founder of trading company Alameda Research and crypto derivatives exchange FTX intimated that conversions have occurred with his own clients regarding their intent to purchase digital assets, but those same clients can become tentative when challenged on the genuine utility of their new asset. “It’s almost going mainstream faster than …

Institutions appear bullish on crypto despite record Bitcoin outflows
At the start of 2021, the cryptocurrency industry was bursting with news of increased institutional investment, and this is still largely true. Despite reports suggesting increased outflows from institutional investors, net inflows are still very much positive. Additionally, though Bitcoin (BTC) appears to be the investment of choice for liquidations, institutional investment into Ethereum (ETH) has never been healthier. From Wall Street hedge funds to major banks, large-scale investors are hopping aboard the crypto train. Bitcoin's fall from its all-time high at $65,000 placed doubt in the minds of all cryptocurrency investors, though that could be changing as its price …

Unstable Bitcoin price to pivot investment flow to gold, mining chief says
Jake Klein, CEO of Australian gold mining establishment Evolution Mining, has said that crypto price volatility will make gold a far more attractive proposition. Speaking to CNBC on Thursday, Klein argued that Bitcoin (BTC) is still ways away from offering the longstanding security associated with gold from a hedge investment perspective despite Bitcoin’s returns outsizing gold by several orders of magnitude in the last decade. According to Klein, crypto is still a speculative play, and the attendant volatility inherent in such markets will point investors back toward gold. The unstable nature of cryptocurrency prices is an often-cited criticism of crypto …
