Coin Bureau Youtube channel hacked despite 2FA protection
Coin Bureau, a popular information portal for cryptocurrency developments with over 600,000 followers on Twitter, experienced a security breach on its Youtube channel on Monday. Hackers allegedly uploaded a video with links to scam fiat/cryptocurrency addresses soliciting a token sale before being taken down by Youtube. According to Coin Bureau staff, they were baffled by the incident as its accounts were "secured with ultra-strong passwords and Google security keys." So our YouTube channel was just hacked. NFT marketplace bug undervalues tokens, helps exploiter nab $750,000
A bug in the front end of popular nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea has reportedly led to an exploit allowing users to buy popular NFTs at their previous listing price. The bug seems to be prevalent with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFT collectibles, where the exploiter managed to buy them at their old listing price and then sold them for the current market price. Crypto YouTubers fall victim to hacking and scamming attempt
Hackers attacked a number of popular crypto YouTuber accounts at some point during the afternoon of Jan. 23. The accounts posted unauthorized videos with text directing viewers to send money to the hacker's wallet. Accounts who appear to have been targeted by the attack include: ‘BitBoy Crypto’, ‘Altcoin Buzz’, ‘Box Mining’, ‘Floyd Mayweather’, ‘Ivan on Tech’, and ‘The Moon’ among others. Multichain hacker returns 322 ETH, keeps hefty finders fee
In a dramatic twist, one of this week’s Multichain hackers has returned 322 ETH ($974,000 at the time of writing) to the cross-chain router protocol and one of the affected users. However the hacker kept 62 ETH ($187,000) as a “bug bounty”, and a total of 528 ETH (worth $1.6M) remains outstanding after the exploits. Crypto.com finally speaks out: 483 user accounts compromised
The Crypto.com security breach saga gets clarity with an official statement from the Singapore-based crypto exchange following a halt on withdrawals after detecting "suspicious activities" in user accounts. Multichain under fire from users as hacking losses grow to $3M
Hackers have continued to exploit a critical vulnerability in the cross-chain router protocol (CRP) Multichain that first appeared on Jan 17. Earlier this week, Multichain urged users to revoke approvals for six tokens to protect their assets from being exploited by malicious individuals. 'Less sophisticated' malware is stealing millions: Chainalysis
Cryptojacking accounted for 73% of the total value received by malware related addresses between 2017 and 2021, according to a new malware report from blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis. Malware is used to conduct nefarious activity on a victim’s device such as a smartphone or PC after being downloaded without the victim’s knowledge. Malware-powered crime can be anything from information-stealing to denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or ad fraud on a grand scale. North Korean hackers stole $400M in 2021, mostly ETH: Chainalysis
North Korean crypto hackers siphoned off nearly $400 million in crypto through cyber attacks in 2021 according to new data from Chainalysis. The type of crypto stolen has also seen a sea change according to the Jan. 13 report from the blockchain analytics firm.
