Cloud mining firm BitFuFu postpones merger with SPAC until May
Cloud mining firm Bitfufu, one of Bitmain's crypto firms, is delaying for the second time its plans to go public via a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC), according to a statement on Feb. 7. The company announced its plans to go public in January 2022 through a merger with the SPAC company Arisz Acquisition Corp, anticipating to be publicly listed in the third quarter of that year and a pro forma enterprise value of nearly $1.5 billion. Hermès wins case against Mason Rothschild’s Metabirkins
On Feb 8, a jury trial in the Southern District of New York reached a verdict in Hermès' lawsuit against MetaBirkins. The court ruled that artist Mason Rothschild had violated the trademark protections of the brand Hermès. Rothschild's 100 "Metabirkins" NFTs were found to not be artistic commentary and therefore not protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution. FTX debtors can issue subpoenas to company 'insiders', says court
The judge overseeing crypto exchange FTX’s bankruptcy case has granted a motion allowing the firm’s debtors to request subpoenas for information and documents from former colleagues and family members of Sam Bankman-Fried. In a Feb. 8 filing, Judge John Dorsey said FTX debtors were authorized under bankruptcy court rules to issue subpoenas to certain individuals “for the production of documents, electronically stored information, or tangible things”. Coin Cloud crypto ATM operator files for bankruptcy, owes over $100M to Genesis
Cash Cloud, the operator of Coin Cloud digital currency automatic teller machines (ATMs) in the United States and Brazil, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada on Feb. 7. According to its filing, the company has liabilities between $100 million and $500 million, with between 5,001 and 10,000 creditors and assets between $50 million and $100 million. Cash Cloud’s biggest creditor is Genesis Global Trading, the brokerage subsidiary business of Digital Currency Group’s bankrupt lending arm. Web3 infrastructure developer ConsenSys, the maker of the popular MetaMask digital wallet, has cast 7.03 million votes in favor of a proposal that would see decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap v3 deployed on BNB Chain, according to data from Tally.
