The functionality of a blockchain’s utility token extends beyond its monetary value. These tokens often serve as the primary incentivization mechanism for validators to keep the network running and stakeholders to participate in decentralized governance. As such, network participants would prefer to store their tokens in a secure environment – preferably devoid of any third parties. Dock, a platform that helps businesses and developers issue and verify credentials on the blockchain, has launched its own mobile wallet. The Dock Wallet – available on the App Store and Play Store – will let token holders store, send, receive and manage Dock …

There has been no shortage of people and institutions that woefully underestimated the potential of cryptocurrency. Among the ranks of once-were Bitcoin naysayers is Wired, which destroyed the private key to a Bitcoin (BTC) wallet holding 13.34623579 BTC back in 2013 in order to make the point the cryptocurrency was nothing more than an “abstraction”. The Bitcoin in the now inaccessible address is now worth $761,000. Author Robert McMillan (who now is a reporter with the Wall Street Journal) set up a Butterfy Labs Bitcoin mining rig in the corner of his office at Wired to see what all the …
Bitcoin (BTC) started the new month in strength and today's run up to $59,053 suggests that bulls are beginning to shake off the fears stirred up by the Federal Reserve's taper talks and the emergence of a new strain of Covid-19. Altcoins also saw their prices lift off and early hopes of a potential "Santa Claus rally" are making the rounds on crypto Twitter. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the biggest gainers over the past 24-hours were Request Network (REQ), Bifrost (BFC) and SafePal (SFP). Request Network transactions hit an all-time high Request Network is an …

Crypto wallet provider BRD said “nothing will change” for users following an acquisition from major U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase. In a Nov. 24 letter to BRD users, CEO Adam Traidman and co-founder Aaron Voisine said some of the company’s team members would be moving to Coinbase to continue working on crypto wallets. Coinbase Wallet said on Twitter that the addition of the BRD team would “help accelerate web3 adoption” as well as provide “deep expertise in self-custody.” “Nothing will change in the BRD wallet app and as always, your funds are safe and secure,” said the BRD execs. “In the …
Five to six-figure-size airdrops have become the new norm in the crypto sector and a growing number of analysts believe there are more to come. In September dYdX distributed a massive airdrop to early users and last week the Ethereum Name Service gave out roughly $17,000 to $30,000 in ENS tokens to platform users. Anticipation of additional "helicopter money" has also led to a flurry of airdrop hunters seeking out the next big score. The mad dash to engage with protocols and qualify for possible token drops led to an uptick in activity on Polygon, a popular layer-2 platform, and …
