Taxes of top concern behind Bitcoin salaries, Exodus CEO says
Major cryptocurrency wallet provider Exodus continues paying its employees in Bitcoin (BTC) despite the ongoing bear market, with the total market cap dropping below $1 trillion on Monday. Since launching its software crypto wallet back in 2015, Exodus has been paying its staff 100% in BTC, Exodus co-founder and CEO JP Richardson told Cointelegraph. The company continued to pay all its 300 employees in BTC even during major market downturns, by providing monthly payroll based on their salary in U.S. dollars. “For example, if Bitcoin is $30,000 per token, and someone makes $15,000 a month, they’ll get half a Bitcoin …

Staking via hardware crypto wallet: Ledger exec explains how it works
As cryptocurrency staking is growing increasingly popular, one may wonder about staking opportunities of not only crypto exchanges or software wallets but also hardware wallets. By definition, staking allows investors to earn crypto without selling their holdings but rather by delegating crypto to a staking validator to support a blockchain. Originating from the word “stake,” the staking process refers to gaining profits and an associated passive income from crypto through a consensus mechanism known as proof-of-stake (PoS), as opposed to the mining-based proof-of-work (PoW) mechanism of Bitcoin (BTC). Amid the growing popularity of PoS, staking has been growing quite popular …

The organization predominantly features former NBA stars in a three-on-three format as opposed to the regular five-on-five basketball games. Last month, the BIG3 launched a new ownership model for the league, which consists of selling tokenized stakes in each of the 12 teams. There are 1000 nonfungible tokens (NFTs) in total allocated to …

WSJ says ‘The NFT market is collapsing,’ but the data says otherwise
An article in the Wall Street Journal has claimed sales of nonfungible tokens (NFTs) are “flatlining” — in the same week that the top five collections alone accounted for more than $1 billion in primary and secondary sales. The article cited data from NFT market analysis platform Nonfungible suggesting the number of NFT sales has fallen by 92% since an all-time high in September 2021. Wallets active in the Ethereum NFT market were also said to have declined by 88% since a high in November 2021. “The NFT market is collapsing,” the article concluded. However, on-chain data from Dune Analytics’ …

Self-custody, control and identity: How regulators got it wrong
The recent European Union proposal requiring centralized crypto exchanges and custodial wallet providers to collect and verify personal information about self-custodial wallet holders shows the dangers of recycling traditional finance (TradFi) rules and applying them to crypto without appreciating the conceptual differences. We can expect to see more of this as countries look to implement the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Travel Rule, initially designed for wire transfers, to transfers of crypto assets. The (missing) link between self-custody, control and identity The aim of the proposed EU rules is “to ensure crypto-assets can be traced in the same way as …
