Really Simple Syndication (RSS), the first information distribution protocol that saw massive adoption across the internet is all set to take on Web3 with a decentralized information processing protocol called RSS3. In a technical whitepaper released on Monday, RSS3 laid out plans for taking its popular internet feed update to Web3. RSS3 would offer every entity an RSS3 file that will act as source data and be updated continuously. The source data file then can be used as an aggregation of all the cyber activities, which can then be used to build out social media, content networks, games and other …
The prospects of Ren (REN) continuing its ongoing rebound to fresh highs appear slim as a classic bearish reversal pattern begins to emerge. Dubbed head and shoulders, the setup appears when the price forms three peaks, with the middle peak (called the head) longer than the other two peaks described as the left and right shoulders. The bottoms of these peaks are supported by a neckline. The pattern comes into play primarily when the price breaks below the neckline in a correction that follows the formation of the right shoulder. That prompts traders to open short entries below the neckline, …
Rocket Pool, a decentralized Ethereum 2.0 staking platform has surpassed $350 million worth of total value locked (TVL) within five weeks of its official launch. The project aims to remove the barriers to entry for Eth2 stakers and node operators. It allows any user to run a node for 16 ETH ($59,000), which is half of the 32 ETH ($119,000) required in the Eth2 deposit contract. Users with as little as 0.01 ETH can also stake their funds and receive yield. According to data from DefiLlama, Rocket Pool has surged up the decentralized finance (DeFi) staking platform rankings to sit …
The number of Ethereum addresses holding 32 or more Ether (ETH) reached a one-month low on Nov. 9. The number of Externally Owned Ethereum Addresses (EOA) fell to 108,949 compared to 108,965 on Oct. 22, according to data from Glassnode, a sign that traders and investors ignored the prospects of becoming validators on its upcoming proof-of-stake blockchain, dubbed Ethereum 2.0. In detail, staking in Ethereum 2.0 requires users to deposit 32 ETH into a designated smart contract address to become a full node validator. In doing so, the depositor gains the right to manage data, process transactions, and add new …
Real-world use cases are one of the main adoption drivers for every crypto ecosystem, which also holds true for the Bitcoin (BTC) network. In the next seven days, the Bitcoin protocol will undergo a soft fork in the name of Taproot upgrade, which aims to improve the network’s privacy, efficiency and smart contracts capability. Taproot is Bitcoin’s first major upgrade since August 2017, which saw the introduction of Segregated Witness (SegWit) and resulted in the launch of Lightning Network. While the previous fork primarily sought to fix transaction malleability and improve Bitcoin’s network scalability, the Taproot upgrade aims to revamp …
Quicknode, a Miami based blockchain infrastructure platform, announced the completion of a $35 million Series A round of financing on Wednesday, led by Venture Capital firm Tiger Global. Seven Seven Six, Soma Capital, Arrington XRP Capital, Crossbeam and Anthony Pompliano also participated in the round. This follows a $5.3 million seed round back in March, and brings the total investment in the company to just north of $45 Million. Quicknode was founded by Dmitry Shklovsky, Manuel Kreutz, Auston Bunsen and Alexander Nabutovsky and graduated from Y Combinator in March of 2021. The platform currently supports ten blockchains, including ethereum, bitcoin …
Despite Beijing’s ever-increasing crackdown on the crypto industry, there are still some signs of life in the People’s Republic regarding the Bitcoin network and over-the-counter (OTC) trading. China intensified its clampdown on crypto last week in an effort to suppress any remaining activity related to digital assets within its borders. The regime specifically targeted crypto transactions, but as researched by Cointelegraph, this action is nothing new, with at least 19 similar crackdowns over the past decade or so. Despite the latest move, there are still 135 Bitcoin nodes in operation in China according to data from Bitrawr, which measures nodes …
Ethereum-based project Status has started an incentivization program for node operators around its decentralized peer-to-peer messaging protocol, Waku. In an announcement on Tuesday, Status said it would be rolling out the first phase of a program to encourage people to set up and run nodes used by Waku, a private messenger based on the Whisper protocol. The project said it planned to offer up to $100 worth in its native token, SNT, to 100 people participating in a three-month program. The Status team forked Whisper to create Waku in 2019. The protocol uses community-owned and -operated nodes to route messages …
United States Senators putting forth differing amendments for provisions in the infrastructure deal that apply to crypto have reached a compromise after a legislative setback. In a press conference on Monday, Senator Pat Toomey said there was now a bipartisan agreement on an amendment to infrastructure bill HR 3684, backed by Cynthia Lummis, Rob Portman, Mark Warner, Kyrsten Sinema and Ron Wyden. The Pennsylvania lawmaker said the new amendment would exempt software developers, transaction validators and node operators, while tax reporting requirements “should only apply to the intermediaries.” “We came together to provide greater clarity on the rules for who …
Switzerland-based telecommunications company Swisscom has said it will join Chainlink’s oracle network as a node operator. In a Thursday announcement, the telecommunications firm said it would be entering the decentralized finance, or DeFi, space by becoming an oracle node operator as part of a pilot program with the Chainlink network. The node, run by Swisscom’s digital asset division, will “continuously feed digital asset price data” to the network and allow applications on Chainlink to better settle financial contracts. "Making reliable off-chain data available on decentralized networks is a critical success factor for the future development of digital assets,” said Swisscom …
The decentralized computing power-sharing network Golem has partnered with software firm Allchemy for a program exploring the origins of life on Earth. The program, called LIFE@Golem, harnesses Golem’s computing power in an attempt to recreate billions of chemical reactions and molecular bonds to trace how the first forms of life could have started on the planet. Working with Allchemy — no apparent connection to blockchain developer Alchemy — Golem’s infrastructure makes it possible to simulate far greater numbers of molecules. “Although research in this arena is decades-old, it has never been conducted on similar scales, boosted by a state-of-the-art computerized …
The decentralized application aiming to connect Facebook’s Diem blockchain with public networks is partnering with node infrastructure provider Pinknode. In a Friday announcement, the Pontem Network said it would be working with Pinknode to provide node infrastructure through the Polkadot ecosystem. The network is aimed at allowing developers to use a Polkadot parachain as a testing ground for their ideas before submitting them to the Diem blockchain. According to Pontem founder Boris Povod, the partnership will help improve Polkadot’s current infrastructure as Pinknode provides “reliable and secure API endpoints.” The network added that Pinknode’s code would allow Polkadot developers to …
