US Treasury yields are soaring, but what does it mean for markets and crypto?
Across all tradeable markets and currencies, U.S. Treasuries — government bonds — have significant influence. In finance, any risk measurement is relative, meaning, if one insures a house, the maximum liability is set in some form of money. Similarly, if a loan is taken from a bank, the creditor has to calculate the odds of the money not being returned and the risk of the amount being devalued by inflation. In a worst-case scenario, let’s imagine what would happen to the costs associated with issuing debt if the U.S. government temporarily suspended payments to specific regions or countries. Currently, there …

Bitcoin price slips under $19K as official data confirms US recession
Bitcoin (BTC) wobbled in its narrow trading range at the Sep. 29 Wall Street open as official data put the United States economy in recession. U.S. meets technical definition of recession Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD still hovering just above $19,000 at the time of writing. The pair weathered gloomy figures for the U.S., with the second quarter gross domestic product (GDP) growth estimated at -0.6%. This, despite protests of the White House to the contrary, meant that the U.S. met the standard criteria for recession — two consecutive quarters of negative growth. "Everyone talks about …

Illuvium co-founder shares plans for new ‘interoperable blockchain game’ model
Kieran Warwick, co-founder of the blockchain role-playing game Illuvium has lifted the curtain on a gaming concept he says has never been done before — the interoperable blockchain game (IBG). Speaking to Cointelegraph during Token2049 in Singapore, Warwick said Illuvium has three games currently being built which will be underpinned by the same economy, governed by a single token (ILV), and connected by the blockchain — making it an interoperable experience. “We're building something that has never been done before not in the mainstream and not in Web3.” IBG, a term coined by Illuvium, is a series of blockchain games …

Price analysis 9/28: BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, ADA, SOL, DOGE, DOT, MATIC, SHIB
The S&P 500 fell for six days in a row and made a new year-to-date low on Sept. 27, but Bitcoin (BTC) maintained its outperformance and stayed well above its June low. This could be a positive sign because several times, markets that show strength on the way down are the ones that outperform in the event of a recovery. The United States equities markets rebounded sharply on Sept. 28 after the Bank of England announced a bond-buying program and the U.S. Treasury yields pulled back from multi-year highs. As this occurred, strong buying in Bitcoin took place, but BTC …

Now, analysis warned that the area around $20,000 was still flush with large-volume traders eager to continue profit-taking. The BTC/USD chart on major exchange Binance “shows brown Mega Whales …

Bitcoin holds $19K, but volatility expected as Friday's $2.2B BTC options expiry approaches
This week the $20,000 resistance is proving to be stronger than expected and even after Bitcoin price rejected at this level on Sept. 27, BTC bulls still have reasons to not give up. According to the 4-month-long descending triangle, as long as the $18,500 support holds, Bitcoin price has until late October to determine whether the downtrend will continue. Bitcoin bulls might have been disappointed by the lackluster price performance as BTC has failed multiple times to break above $20,000, but macroeconomic events might trigger a rally sooner than expected. Some analysts point to the United Kingdom's unexpected intervention in …

Trader: "First new lows" before Q4 recovery Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD falling to $18,461 on Bitstamp, down almost $2,000 versus the previous day’s high. The change of direction came in lock step with stocks, which turned red after initially heading marginally higher at the Wall Street open. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index ultimately finished the day down 0.25% and up 0.25%, respectively. Cypto, however, failed to recoup its losses, and while hopes were for Q4 to bring about …

3 'blockbuster' titles that could save GameFi — ABGA President
Kevin Shao, Executive President of the Asia Blockchain Gaming Alliance (ABGA) says he’s holding out hope for three “triple-A” blockchain gaming titles that could help propel GameFi into the mainstream and rescue it from the bear market. Speaking to Cointelegraph during Asia Crypto Week, the Executive President said one obstacle preventing mainstream adoption is current GameFi titles often have a focus on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and play-to-earn (P2E) features without caring about “game performance,” and users' enjoyment. In a P2E model, gamers typically buy an NFT in order to play the game and can win gaming tokens which can then …

Bitcoin price fails to hold $20K again, but there is a silver lining
Markets briefly flashed green on Sept. 27 as equities markets bounced back from Monday’s pullback, bringing BTC price back to the long term descending trendline resistance which currently resides at $20,100. Unfortunately for bulls, the positive momentum for stocks and cryptocurrencies rapidly eroded and Bitcoin price gave up a majority of the intraday gains as it slipped back below $19,000. As has been the case since March 25, BTC price has been unable to kick above the resistance for more than a few hours and the Sept. 27 breakdown at the trendline continues the trend of successive bear flags that …
