The NFT marketplace confirmed that the core team has cashed out 10,500 WETH estimated to be worth $30 million from the unattributed staked native token LOOKS. “Rampant” issues relating to minting counterfeit nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, have forced popular platform Cent to halt some operations. Founded in 2017, Cent kicked off as a “social network and informal platform for creative experimentation.” In 2020, the team also launched an NFT platform called Valuables to mint and auction iconic tweets. Jack Dorsey’s first tweet, “just setting up my twttr,” sold for $2.9 million on the platform in March last year. On February 6th, the platform ceased NFT trading due to “a spectrum of activity” that "shouldn’t be happening." Cameron Hejazi, co-founder of Cent told Cointelegraph: “People in this …

As NFT projects prepare to embark into the Metaverse, it seems they are pivoting from their static imagery to integrating mechanics that provide utility. Notably, Bored Ape Yacht Club has amassed over $1 billion in total volume and announced a mobile play-and-earn game, while fellow primate projects, CyberKongz and SmolBrains continue to announce and integrate new gamification features to their collections. Investors seem to not only be searching for projects with strong communities and utility, but it appears technical capabilities rank high on the list too. This notion was made evident after Cool Cats’ Cool Pets collection experienced back-to-back hiccups …

Nonfungible tokens (NFT) continue to be one of the hottest sectors of the cryptocurrency market in 2022 despite the overall multi-month weakness seen in Bitcoin (BTC) and other large-cap crypto assets. NFT projects have seemed to divert from what once was traditional minting, to now requiring potential buyers to join whitelists to access the pre-sale before the collection goes public. This means investors keen on obtaining a sharper edge aim to get on as many whitelists as possible to potentially increase their return-on-investment when the NFT is eventually sold on the secondary market. CryptoBatz are being minted today on their website for their whitelist holders today for 0.088 ETH ($283.55 USD). Their current floor price on Opensea, 1.99 ETH ($6,412.04 USD). ROI = 2,261.34% What a time to be a whitelister. …
Twitter users reacted negatively to an OpenSea email sent to users who still had inactive listings on their accounts. In the email, OpenSea explained that old NFTs listings are still fulfillable, and should be canceled by the user because OpenSea is unable to cancel them on their behalf. They claimed this would “prevent any of your items from being sold at the inactive listing price,” due to Ethereum’s (ETH) dropping price. According to the NFT collector @dingalingts and other users, this warning had the opposite effect and canceling the listing ended up recreating the order. @Dingalingts tweeted a thread urging …
NFT marketplace OpenSea has backflipped on a controversial decision to limit the number of NFTs and collections creators can mint using its smart contract. The platform previously allowed unlimited collections and items, but changed its policy to only allow five NFT collections with 50 items per collection when using OpenSea’s collection storefront contract. That’s its own smart contract allowing creators to mint NFTs without needing to deploy their own. The unexpected announcement from OpenSea’s Twitter Support account, posted on Jan. 27, stated the lower limits came after it had "addressed feedback received about its creator tools." . A follow-up tweet …
