The Bitcoin bottom — Are we there yet? Analysts discuss the factors impacting BTC price
When Bitcoin was trading above $60,000, the smartest analysts and financial-minded folk told investors that BTC price would never fall below its previous all time high. These same individuals also said $50,000 was a buy the dip opportunity, and then they said $35,000 was a generational buy opportunity. Later on, they also suggested that BTC would never fall under $20,000. Of course, “now” is a great time to buy the dip, and one would think that buying BTC at or under $10,000 would also be the purchase of a lifetime. But by now, all the so-called “experts'' have fallen quiet …

Surge or purge? Why the Merge may not save Ethereum price from 'Septembear'
Ethereum's native token, Ether (ETH), is not immune to downside risk in September after rallying approximately 90% from its bottom of around $880 in June. Much of the token's upside move is attributed to the Merge, a technical upgrade that would make Ethereum a proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol, slated for Sep. 15. But despite logging impressive gains between June and September, Ether still trades almost 70% below its record high of around $4,950 from November 2021. Therefore, its possibility of heading lower remains on the cards. Here are three Ethereum bearish market indicators that show why more downside is likely. Sell …

Bitcoin’s in a bear market, but there are plenty of good reasons to keep investing
Let's rewind the tape to the end of 2021 when Bitcoin (BTC) was trading near $47,000, which at the time was 32% lower than the all-time high. During that time, the tech-heavy Nasdaq stock market index held 15,650 points, just 3% below its highest ever mark. Comparing the Nasdaq's 75% gain between 2021 and 2022 to Bitcoin's 544% positive move, one could assume that an eventual correction caused by macroeconomic tensions or a major crisis, would lead to Bitcoin’s price being disproportionately impacted than stocks. Eventually, these “macroeconomic tensions and crises” did occur and Bitcoin price plunging another 57% to …

Think tank launches ‘technical sandbox’ exploring United States CBDCs
A U.S. think tank has launched a “technical sandbox” aimed at advancing the exploration of a potential United States central bank digital currency (CBDC). In an Aug. 31 Tweet from Digital Dollar Project (DDP), the organization said the new program would explore “technical and business implementation” questions revolving around a U.S. CBDC. The organization noted that the initial participants of the sandbox include crypto-firm Ripple, financial technology company Digital Asset, software platform Knox Networks and banking solutions firm EMTECH. The ‘Technical Sandbox Program' aims to give the federal government, policymakers, and the private sector a clearer understanding of how a …

The total crypto market cap continues to crumble as the dollar index hits a 20 year high
From a bearish perspective, there's a fair probability that the crypto market entered a descending channel (or wedge) on Aug. 15 after it failed to break above the $1.2 trillion total market capitalization resistance. Even if the pattern isn't yet clearly distinguishable, the last couple of weeks have not been positive. For example, the $940 billion total market cap seen on Aug. 29 was the lowest in 43 days. The worsening conditions have been accompanied by a steep correction in traditional markets, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index has declined by 12% since Aug. 15 and even WTI oil prices …

Bitcoin holds $20K, but analysts say BTC open interest leaves room for ‘more deleveraging’
Bitcoin (BTC) price continues to struggle at $20,000 and repeat dips under this level have led some analysts to project deeper downside in the short-term. Earlier in the week, independent market analyst Philip Swift tweeted that the Crypto Fear and Greed Index had dropped back to back to “Extreme Fear,” reflecting softening sentiment among investors. The market is not enjoying $BTC hanging around $20k. Back into Extreme Fear today. Bitcoin price clings to $20K as analyst says Fed ‘buried’ soft landing
Bitcoin (BTC) fluctuated around the key $20,000 mark into Aug. 31 as the outlook on United States inflation darkened. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD again dipping below last halving cycle’s top overnight, only to regain lost ground to circle $20,300 on the day. The rangebound moves accompanied modest recoveries for U.S. stocks, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index up 0.15% and 0.6% within the first hour’s trading, respectively. Concerns over the Federal Reserve’s plans on tackling inflation after last week’s gloomy speech by Chair Jerome Powell nonetheless lingered. Despite Powell’s earlier rhetoric, Diane Swonk, …

Potential Bitcoin price double-bottom could spark BTC rally to $30K despite 'extreme fear'
Bitcoin (BTC) price may climb by more than 50% in September, a month otherwise considered ominous for the cryptocurrency due to its poor historical returns. BTC price double-bottom and then to $30K? The conflicting upside signal comes from a potential double-bottom pattern on Bitcoin's longer-timeframe charts against the U.S. dollar. Double-bottoms are bullish reversal patterns that resemble the letter "W" due to two lows and a change in direction from downside to upside. Bitcoin's decline below $20,000 in July, followed by a sharp recovery toward $25,000 and a subsequent return to the $20,000-level in August, partially confirms the double-bottom scenario. …

US stocks lose $1.25T in a day — more than entire crypto market cap
Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins lost big on Aug. 26 after the United States Federal Reserve delivered hawkish remarks on economic policy. Across the board, risk assets took a major hit — U.S. equities shed around $1.25 trillion in a single session. Analyst: Powell retiring "soft landing" rhetoric As comments by Fed Chair, Jerome Powell, suggested that larger rate hikes were still firmly on the table despite recent data hinting that inflation was already slowing, investors rushed to cut risk. "Restoring price stability will likely require maintaining a restrictive policy stance for some time. The historical record cautions strongly against prematurely …

Hawkish Fed comments and Bitcoin derivatives data point to further BTC downside
A $750 pump on Aug. 26 took Bitcoin (BTC) from $21,120 to $21,870 in less than 2 hours. However, the movement was completely erased after comments from U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell reiterated the bank’s commitment to contain inflation by tightening the economy. Following Powell’s speech, BTC price dropped as low as $20,700. At Jackson Hole, Powell specifically mentioned that "the historical record cautions strongly against prematurely loosening policy." Right after those remarks, the U.S. stock market indexes reacted negatively, with the S&P 500 dropping 2.2% within the hour. On the Bitcoin chart, the affable “Bart candle,” a reference …

Why September is shaping up to be a potentially ugly month for Bitcoin price
Bitcoin (BTC) bulls should not get excited about the recovery from the June lows of $17,500 just yet as BTC heads into its riskiest month in the coming days. The psychology behind the "September effect" Historic data shows September being Bitcoin's most worst month between 2013 and 2021, except in 2015 and 2016. At the same time, the average Bitcoin price decline in the month is a modest -6%. Interestingly, Bitcoin's poor track record across the previous September months coincides with similar downturns in the stock market. For instance, the average decline of the U.S. benchmark S&P 500 in September …

Bitcoin price taps $21.3K ahead of Fed Chair Powell Jackson Hole speech
Bitcoin (BTC) fell to daily lows on Aug. 26 as market nerves heightened into new macro triggers. Pre-Fed blues hit BTC markets Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC/USD dipping to $21,332 on Bitstamp ahead of fresh commentary from Jerome Powell, Chair of the United States Federal Reserve. Part of the Fed’s Jackson Hole annual symposium, Powell was set to deliver a speech on the day that spectators hoped would provide new cues on economic policy going forward. With U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation slowing since June, interest remained high over the extent of key interest rate …
