The rise of Web3 functionality has been a boon for decentralized domain name services over the past two years, with millions of blockchain-based domains registered to date. Challenging market conditions may have hampered exponential growth, but industry leaders believe that utility-driven adoption will continue in the future. Web3 is fundamentally changing how businesses, brands and retailers serve customers, who are taking full control of their data, wallets and online identity courtesy of blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has shared a possible solution to what he describes as the “largest remaining challenge” on Ethereum — privacy. In a blog post on Jan. 20, Buterin acknowledged the need to come up with a privacy solution because by default, all information that goes onto a “public blockchain” is public too. He then arrived at the concept of “stealth addresses” — which he said can potentially anonymize peer-to-peer transactions, nonfungible token (NFT) transfers, and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) registrations, protecting users. As simplified wallet addresses become more popular within the blockchain space, crypto exchange Coinbase integrated with Ethereum Name Service (ENS) to give their customers usernames to replace their traditional Coinbase crypto wallet addresses. In a post, the exchange announced that it will be handing out free “name.cb.id” usernames. Through Coinbase Wallet’s browser extension, people can claim their new address and use it for their transactions. With this, users can send and receive crypto tokens using the simplified name instead of the usual 42-word alphanumerical address. The exchange also said in the announcement that this is a necessary step in creating …

Unstoppable Domains has partnered with crypto payment firm MoonPay to incorporate nonfungible token (NFT) domains in transactions within the platform. With the collaboration, MoonPay users can send and receive digital assets using their domain names, eliminating the need to enter long and complicated wallet addresses. In an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, Ivan Soto-Wright, co-founder and CEO of MoonPay, said that the partnership would make it easier for people to come into the Web3 world. According to Soto-Wright, while MoonPay deals with the front-end, Unstoppable Domains enhances the tail-end of a user's journey by removing the complex characters and replacing them …
Ethereum domains showed an increase in demand as Ethereum Name Service (ENS) registration totaled 126,141 registrations in just one week. A handful of industries and tech workers are shifting from Web2 to Web3 and with this move, awareness of blockchain technology is also spreading. The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is one project that is looking to help facilitate Web3 adoption by making it easier for DApp users to interact with the Ethereum network. This is accomplished through the creation of human-readable Ethereum addresses that can be converted into the normal machine-readable alphanumeric codes. Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that since hitting a low of $14 on April 26, the price of ENS has surged 91.75% to a …
Ethereum Name Service, or ENS, .eth domains ranging from 0000 to 9999 have recently been causing a stir among nonfungible token (NFT) investors, speculators and enthusiasts alike. According to a Dune Analytics dashboard for ENS, the spike in sales began on April 21, and the number of eth. name registrations have since jumped from 2,721 to 21,188 by Thursday. Over the …
