Coinbase Wallet adds support for Solana
Top U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase has added wallet support for Solana (SOL) and its ecosystem of Solana tokens (SPL). Coinbase cited the surging interest in Solana over the past 12 months as investors look for low-cost alternatives to Ethereum as a key reason behind adding support to the network. The expanded wallet support comes just a few days after the firm launched Coinbase Pay, which enables users to fund their wallets directly via a web browser extension. In a March 18 blog post announcing the move, the firm also loosely outlined plans to “further integrate” with Solana by connecting the …

Klaytn token down 15% in a month, but network's TVL shows resilience
Klaytn (KLAY) had a promising start in March 2021, reaching an impressive $11 billion market capitalization following its debut. However, investors have exaggerated their expectations as the token's current total value stands at $3 billion, down roughly 70%. Although not as well known as the leading smart contract blockchains, Klaytn remains a top-35 token by capitalization rank. Moreover, the network holds $1.2 billion worth of deposits locked on smart contracts. Capital locked on smart contracts is known in the industry as total value locked, or TVL. Real use cases and strong backing Klaytn is a flexible modular network architecture created …

Binance temporarily halts Polygon deposit and withdrawal to sync nodes
Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange by trading volume, announced earlier on Tuesday that it will be temporarily pausing deposits and withdrawals for Polygon (MATIC) Network. The announcement came in the wake of the Polygon network’s outage since March 11 after a network upgrade. The crypto exchange noted that it would reopen the deposit and withdrawal features once the network becomes stable. Polygon network is a layer-2 Ethereum scaling solution that boasts millions of users and an evolving ecosystem. The network underwent an essential upgrade on one of the three layers on March 11, but due to a suspected bug, …

Polygon’s focus on building L2 infrastructure outweighs MATIC’s 50% drop from ATH
After a devastating 50% correction between Dec. 25 and Jan. 25, Polygon (MATIC) has been struggling to sustain the $1.40 support. While some argue this top-15 coin has merely adjusted after a 16,200% gain in 2021, others point to competing scaling solutions growth. Either way, Polygon (MATIC) remains 50.8% below its all-time high at an $11 billion market capitalization. Currently, the market cap of Terra (LUNA) stands at $37 billion, Solana (SOL) is above $26 billion, and Avalanche (AVAX) is at a $19 billion market value. A positive note is that Polygon raised $450 million on Feb. 7, and the …

Solana TVL and price drop 50%+ from ATH, but gaming DApps could turn the tables
2022 has not been a good start for cryptocurrencies and to date, the total market capitalization has dropped by 21% to $1.77 trillion. Solana's (SOL) correction has been even more brutal, presenting a 48.5% correction year-to-date. Solana leads the staking charts with $35 billion in value locked, which is equivalent to 74% of the SOL tokens in circulation. Multiple reasons can be identified for the underperformance, including four network outages in late 2021 and early 2022. The latest incident on Jan. 7 was attributed to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, causing Solana Lab developers to update the code and consequently …

Ethereum price finally topped $3K, but data suggests a reversal is nowhere in sight
There is an old saying in traditional markets which is actually more like a trading rule. It goes, “when the trend is negative, one can only be neutral or short,” meaning bet on the price decrease. The problem is that a relief bounce tricks traders into believing that the negative prevailing sentiment has shifted into a buyers’ market. For example, after analyzing Ether's (ETH) price chart, one might conclude that after a 41% crash, a bull run should be ignited sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a fallacy because markets can exist in periods of non-definition …

Project aims to take on SAP ERP with decentralized apps
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions can be quite expensive, especially for smaller companies. While ERP giants like SAP try their hands at blockchain-based solutions, a relatively small team now aims to provide an alternative that delivers similar functions using decentralized apps (DApps). In a Cointelegraph interview, William Pete, the CEO of Energy Ledger explained that by integrating blockchain technology, their team was able to develop applications that allow tracking and tracing supply chain logistics for products like crude oil. “Major oil and gas producers have been looking at blockchain technology for years but their internal think-tanks have failed to create …

Inside the blockchain developers’ mind: Building a free-to-use social DApp
Cointelegraph is following the development of an entirely new blockchain from inception to mainnet and beyond through its series, Inside the Blockchain Developer’s Mind, written by Andrew Levine of Koinos Group. In my first article in this series, I explained why Ethereum and Steem haven’t been able to deliver a mainstream social decentralized application (DApp). In my second article, I explained how EOS attempted to combine features of both chains but it did so in a way that still required users to buy high-priced random-access memory (RAM) for accounts and smart contracts. In this article, I want to take a …

Warner Music Group announces partnership with blockchain gaming developer Splinterlands
On Wednesday, Warner Music Group announced it had entered into a partnership with fantasy-themed collectible card game developer Splinterlands. The two companies will collaborate and enable opportunities for WMG artists to create and develop play-to-earn, arcade-style blockchain games. Last month, WMG made its first entry into the nonfungible token, or NFT, metaverse realm in a partnership with The Sandbox with the goal of providing WMG artists another outlet with which to engage their fans. In a statement, Oana Ruxandra, chief digital officer and executive vice president of business development at WMG, said: “By partnering with Splinterlands to build custom tokenized …

DCG leads $205M growth fund for The Graph
Blockchain data indexing protocol The Graph has launched a $205 million ecosystem fund to lure new developers to its platform, offering further evidence that venture capital firms were still keen to support growth funds centered around decentralized applications. The ecosystem fund was financed by Digital Currency Group, Multicoin Capital, Reciprocal Ventures, Gumi Cryptos Capital, NCG and HashKey. The fund’s stated purpose is to accelerate the growth and development of key projects in The Graph’s ecosystem. HashKey Capital managing director Deng Chao said the company will provide resources and guidance to decentralized application developers and projects looking to gain access to …

Inside the blockchain developers’ mind: Can EOS deliver a killer social DApp?
Cointelegraph is following the development of an entirely new blockchain from inception to mainnet and beyond through its series, Inside the Blockchain Developer’s Mind, written by Andrew Levine of Koinos Group. In my first article in this series, I explained why Ethereum and Steem haven’t been able to deliver a mainstream social decentralized application (DApp), despite taking two very different approaches and how this makes the solution seem. Therefore, why not combine the fee-less system developed for Steem with the flexibility of a blockchain with smart contracts like Ethereum? Then, we could give developers the best of both worlds, enabling …
