Breaking: Polygon blockchain reportedly suffers network outage
Layer-2 scaling solution Polygon (MATIC) has not processed a block in over an hour and a half, leading some to believe that the blockchain network could be suffering from an outage. According to data from Polygonscan, the blockchain's last block and transaction was processed at around 8:35 pm UTC on Feb. 22. The network has previously suffered network outages, with the last occurring on Mar. 21-22, 2022 due to maintenance required on one of the network's three layers. BIS head describes ideal ‘unified ledger’ for central banks and other financial users
General manager of the Bank for International Settlements Agustín Carstens spoke at the Singapore FinTech Festival on Feb. 22 and described the digital financial infrastructure he believes would best suit central bankers’ needs. He called that infrastructure a “unified ledger.” Carstens compared the theoretical unified ledger with a smartphone, saying they both work seamlessly with a variety of components. Tencent Cloud signs multiple collaboration agreements with blockchain firms
According to a press release on Feb. 22, Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing branch of Chinese internet giant Tencent, announced that it had concluded multiple agreements with blockchain firms to support the active development of the Web 3.0 ecosystem. TON blockchain freezes $2.6B worth of inactive tokens
According to the results of a community vote on Feb. 22, users and validators of The Open Network (TON), a layer one blockchain previously created by Telegram, have voted to suspend miners' wallets for four years if they are inactive and have never made an outgoing transaction. The decision resulted in 1,081,389,416 TON being suspended, worth an estimated $2.58 billion at the time of publication and accounting for over 20% of TON tokens outstanding.
