Avalanche (AVAX) witnessed a meteoric start to 2023, gaining 98% in 30 days, and traders are now curious about whether the rally will extend throughout February. AVAX’s year-to-date gains for 2023 have outpaced those of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). Recent reasons for AVAX’s rally can be attributed to an Amazon partnership announcement on Jan. 11. The partnership is meant to easily deploy nodes on the Avalanche blockchain with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Ava Labs, which supports the Avalanche ecosystem, hopes the partnership increases blockchain usage for enterprises and governments. While AVAX price has benefited from the news, some analysts …
The damages caused by the fall of major crypto ecosystems in the last year are on a path of steady recovery as good actors take proactive measures to rebuild trust among investors. Major players from the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem came together to showcase the incentive behind operating trustless, interoperable and permissionless platforms. For 24-hrs from Feb.6 to 7, over 30 DeFi protocols joined in an initiative to “permissionlessly” share tweets from other protocols — thus highlighting the permissionless and interoperable nature of Web3. Projects participating in this campaign include Yearn, MakerDAO, SushiSwap and Aave, among others. An experiment in …
Stani Kulechov, the founder of the decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Aave, highlighted several issues within the DeFi space at the StarkWare Sessions 2023, held at The Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv, Israel. In a fireside chat titled “DeFi: Resilience in the Face of Global Uncertainty,” Kulechov and Cointelegraph’s managing editor Alex Cohen discussed various topics, including DeFi’s risks compared to traditional finance (TradFi) and how stablecoins can lead to more DeFi adoption. According to Kulechov, the preciseness of quantifying risks in DeFi is better compared to TradFi products, and this could push further adoption for the space. The Aave founder …
According to a new post on Jan. 26, Marc Zeller integrations lead at decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocol Aave stated that the firm purchased 2.7 million Curve (CRV) tokens which would clear "excessive remaining bad debt" within the next 15 hours over a dozen transactions. The move follows the community approval of Aave Improvement Protocol (AIP) 144, which deployed a swap contract that acquires 2,700,000 units of CRV, with a USDC spend limit of $3,105,000 and max unit value of $1.15 per CRV token. The bad debt on the Aave protocol resulted from a sophisticated exploit that took place on …
After nearly a 20% rally last week, Bitcoin (BTC) is on track to end this week with gains of roughly 10%. Bitcoin’s rally has improved sentiment and attracted buying in several altcoins. This sent the total crypto market capitalization firmly above the $1 trillion mark. The strong recovery in Bitcoin has startled several analysts who remain skeptical about the rally. Some believe that the current rise is a dead cat bounce that will reverse direction sharply while others see similarities between the current rally and the 2018 bear market recovery. Although traders should be ready for any eventuality, the pace …
Bitcoin (BTC) has finally pushed above the $17,000 mark after rallying to $17,375 on Jan. 12. with both the bulls and the bears eyeing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) due on Jan. 12. If the print shows that inflation is cooling off, risk assets may rally, but a negative surprise could attract strong selling. While some believe that a macro bottom could be forming in Bitcoin, others remain skeptical. They draw a parallel between the current bear market and the dot-com bubble burst. The United States Federal Reserve stopped raising rates in May 2000 but the Nasdaq did not bottom …
The United States equities markets shrugged off the hotter-than-expected labor data on Dec. 2 and recovered sharply from their intraday low. This suggests that market observers believe the Federal Reserve may not change its stance of slowing the pace of rate hikes because of the latest jobs data. Although the FTX crisis broke the positive correlation between the US equities markets and Bitcoin (BTC), the recent strength in the equities markets shows a risk-on sentiment. This could be favorable for the cryptocurrency space and may attract dip buyers. The broader crypto recovery may pick up steam after more clarity emerges …
The lending markets were frozen right after its governance members passed a vote that aims to temporarily freeze assets considered to be volatile and have low liquidity. The assets included in the list are Yearn Finance (YFI), Curve Finance (CRV), 0x (ZRX), Decentraland (MANA), 1inch (1INCH), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Enjin (ENJ), Ampleforth (AMPL), DeFi Pulse Index (DPI), RENFIL, Maker (MKR) and xSUSHI. Apart from these, the protocol also suspended the following stablecoins: sUSD, USDP, LUSD, GUSD and RAI. With the assets frozen, users cannot take loans on the assets or deposit their assets to the protocol. According to the …
Welcome to Finance Redefined, your weekly dose of essential decentralized finance (DeFi) insights — a newsletter crafted to bring you significant developments over the last week. The prolonged crypto winter aided by the collapse of FTX has kept investors from backing a new protocol that merges DeFi and the foreign exchange market. A new Cosmos blockchain-based DeFi protocol has caught the eyes of investors who have put $10 million behind the project. Cardano-based leading stablecoin ecosystem Ardana abruptly stopped its development after several launch delays. However, the project remains open-source for others to add to it until they restart the …
As described by analysts at Lookonchain on Nov. 22, tokens of decentralized exchange Curve Finance (CRV) appear to have suffered a major short-seller attack. According to Lookonchain, ponzishorter.eth, an address associated with Mango Markets exploiter Avraham Eisenberg, first swapped 40 million USD Coin (USDC) on Nov. 13 into decentralized finance protocol Aave to borrow CRV for selling. The act allegedly sent the price of CRV falling from $0.625 to $0.464 during the week. Fast forward to today, blockchain data shows that ponzishorter.eth borrowed a further 30 million CRV ($14.85 million) through two transactions and transferred them to OKEx for selling. …
Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Arbitrum has seen a massive surge in activity since its Nitro update in August, having just clocked around 62% as many transactions as the Ethereum base layer. In a Nov. 1 report, crypto research firm Delphi Digital noted that as of the week ended Oct. 24, Arbitrum’s number of total transactions has increased by 550% since August, citing data from Dune Analytics. This week, @arbitrum had ~62% as many transactions as Ethereum L1. pic.twitter.com/DyuDNAjRGz — Delphi Digital (@Delphi_Digital) November 3, 2022 In an earlier Tweet, Delphi Digital initially phrased Arbitrum as accounting for 62% of all …
Multinational banking firm JP Morgan has successfully executed its first ever cross-border transaction using decentralized finance (DeFi) on a public blockchain. The trade was facilitated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) Project Guardian on Nov. 2 — which was established as part of a pilot program to “explore potential decentralized finance (DeFi) applications in wholesale funding markets.” In other words, the pilot was another step into examining how traditional financial institutions can use tokenized assets and DeFi protocols to conduct financial transactions, among other use cases. Singapore’s largest bank — DBS Bank, Tokyo-based banking firm SBI Digital Asset Holdings …
