1inch announces deployment to Optimism's layer-2 solution

Published at: Aug. 17, 2021

Decentralized exchange aggregator 1inch has announced its deployment on the Optimistic Ethereum (OE) mainnet, highlighting a considerable reduction in user transaction fees and confirmation delays.

Sergej Kunz, co-founder of the 1inch Network, stated that "The 1inch launch on Optimistic will facilitate a dramatic increase in transaction speed."

While deposits utilizing the OE network are set to be credited almost instantly, withdrawals will require a waiting period of seven days. These wait times are expected to improve when fast withdrawal service is enabled sometime in the future.

At the time of launch, the OE network will only be able to handle 0.6 transactions per second. However, the team expects to progressively increase transaction speeds after testing and optimizing the infrastructure. The update will be compatible with most Ethereum wallets, including MetaMask and WalletConnect.

Optimistic Ethereum is a layer-two scalability solution developed by the Optimism team. The Optimism team is a public benefit corporation that researches scalability solutions on the Ethereum network. The OE solution itself is an Ethereum Virtuam-compatible Optimistic Rollup chain.

1inch is not the only exchange to integrate Optimism’s layer-two solution. On July 13, automated market maker Uniswap deployed the alpha version of its v3 exchange on the same Optimistic Ethereum mainnet.

Polygon-based QuickSwap's TVL grows by $75M in two weeks
Polygon-based DEX QuickSwap has attracted more than $105 million in worth of liquidity since the start of 2021. The Uniswap clone began the year with only $300,000 worth of assets locked in its protocol, with more than three quarters of the exchange’s total value locked being added in the past fortnight. QuickSwap is currently the leading second-layer decentralized exchange by daily volume with $38.5 million worth of trades over the past 24 hours. The second-largest L2 DEX by volume is Loopring with $8.4 million, followed by ZKSwap with $2.5 million. L2 DEX trading volume in the last 24hrs: 1 @QuickswapDEX …

Cross-chain protocol brings together liquidity sources from multiple networks
A cross-chain aggregation protocol allows crypto enthusiasts to access liquidity sources from multiple networks on one platform — making it easier than ever to find the best prices. O3 Swap says its goal is to help users discover the most efficient routes for their trades, and complete transactions without limitations and hidden fees. Just some of the liquidity sources it supports include Uniswap, SushiSwap and Curve on the Ethereum blockchain; PancakeSwap, DODO and BakerySwap on Binance Smart Chain; as well as Flamingo, Nash and Switcheo on Neo. All of this ensures that multi-chain assets can be freely exchanged, and different …

Polygon’s expanding ecosystem backs MATIC’s rise toward a new all-time high
Layer-two (L2) solutions for the Ethereum network have become a popular topic of discussion and speculation on their associated tokens backed the massive rally seen in many of the protocols this year. The parabolic growth of the decentralized finance (DeFi) and nonfungible token (NFT) sector also led to a surge in the cost carrying out simple transfers and this prompted developers and investors to migrate to L2-supportive platforms. One L2 solution that saw its token price rise to new highs earlier in the year and now looks poised to make another breakout higher is Polygon (MATIC), a proof-of-stake blockchain protocol …

The future of smart contract adoption for enterprises
Decentralized finance (DeFi) markets may have cooled down over the past year, but the technology powering these applications continues to advance. In particular, smart contract platforms that enable transactions to take place across DeFi applications are maturing to meet enterprise requirements. While it’s notable that enterprises have previously shown interest in DeFi use cases, smart contract limitations have hampered adoption. A report published by Grayscale Research in March puts this in perspective, noting that “Despite handling millions of transactions per day, smart contract platforms in their current state would be incapable of handling even 10% of the worlds’ internet traffic.” …
