BlockTower’s CIO Predicts Hyperinflation Could Send Bitcoin Parabolic

Published at: Aug. 3, 2020

Ari Paul, co-founder and CIO of crypto hedge fund BlockTower Capital, believes Bitcoin’s (BTC) next parabolic move will soon be triggered by hyperinflation caused by the monetary policies of central banks.

According to Paul, the Federal Reserve will eventually need to devalue the dollar as a means to pay its increasingly high sovereign debt.

In that scenario, according to Paul, we’ll enter a period of hyperinflation similar to the Great Inflation of the 1970s. During such an event, investors could move their wealth away from dollars and Treasury bonds into inflation-resistant assets.

“If we have a return to something like the 1970s, I think probably gold rallies five to 10 times or more, I think Bitcoin probably rallies 10 to 30 times or more,” he claimed.

Paul believes this process has already started and that we are already in an “inflationary market, a Bitcoin bull market and gold bull market in the early stages.”

He also said “Bitcoin is like a call on inflation,” meaning that as long as the expectation of high inflation remains high, the price of the call (Bitcoin) will also increase.

Unstable Bitcoin price to pivot investment flow to gold, mining chief says
Jake Klein, CEO of Australian gold mining establishment Evolution Mining, has said that crypto price volatility will make gold a far more attractive proposition. Speaking to CNBC on Thursday, Klein argued that Bitcoin (BTC) is still ways away from offering the longstanding security associated with gold from a hedge investment perspective despite Bitcoin’s returns outsizing gold by several orders of magnitude in the last decade. According to Klein, crypto is still a speculative play, and the attendant volatility inherent in such markets will point investors back toward gold. The unstable nature of cryptocurrency prices is an often-cited criticism of crypto …

Fundstrat Co-Founder Tom Lee: US Fed Rate Cuts Are Helping Bitcoin
Fundstrat Global Advisors co-founder Tom Lee believes that recent interest rate cuts in the United States by the Federal Reserve are a boon for Bitcoin (BTC). Lee remarked on how the rate cuts positively impact Bitcoin investment in an interview with Fox Business on July 31, saying: “Bitcoin’s becoming increasingly a macrohedge for investors against things that could go wrong. Rate cuts are adding liquidity. Liquidity is pushing money into all these risk assets and also hedges, which is helping Bitcoin.” Lee delivered a couple more general remarks about Bitcoin, which climbed back above the $10,000 mark earlier today. Bitcoin’s in a bear market, but there are plenty of good reasons to keep investing
Let's rewind the tape to the end of 2021 when Bitcoin (BTC) was trading near $47,000, which at the time was 32% lower than the all-time high. During that time, the tech-heavy Nasdaq stock market index held 15,650 points, just 3% below its highest ever mark. Comparing the Nasdaq's 75% gain between 2021 and 2022 to Bitcoin's 544% positive move, one could assume that an eventual correction caused by macroeconomic tensions or a major crisis, would lead to Bitcoin’s price being disproportionately impacted than stocks. Eventually, these “macroeconomic tensions and crises” did occur and Bitcoin price plunging another 57% to …
