Cutting-edge governance system comes to established crypto game

Published at: April 19, 2021

A multiblockchain game says it delivers a unique blend of decentralized finance and nonfungible tokens, or NFTs — meaning players, developers, traders and crypto veterans all benefit.

The team behind the Blockchain Cuties Universe claims traditional gaming presents a plethora of problems. Players never truly own the items they purchase, and these assets often lack interoperability with other games.

Although blockchain technology does help alleviate some of these pain points, the team argues that issues still remain. A difficult onboarding process can be offputting for newcomers who are buying crypto for the first time, transactions can be slow and expensive, and there’s a real lack of a “play to earn” element.

Blockchain Cuties Universe is aiming to usher in a new era of gaming through the launch of its very first governance token, which sits at the heart of a diverse ecosystem. The project’s infrastructure streamlines the registration process across five blockchains, ensures transactions can be completed instantly and cheaply, and gamifies the governance process.

It’s hoped that this closed-loop approach will help create synergy between all stakeholders — including players, decentralized autonomous organization participants, liquidity providers and game creators. As well as serving as a means of payment, BCUG serves as a staking instrument that produces derivative tokens and as a farming instrument.

Giving everyone a voice

According to Blockchain Cuties Universe, this innovation will ensure that continued investment can be made in this cutting-edge game, which was ahead of the curve when it launched in April 2018. Better still, players will be able to use BCUG tokens to participate in votes and make a meaningful contribution to the game’s future direction. The project takes pride in being one of the few games to survive the harsh crypto winter, along with the likes of CryptoKitties and Axie Infinity.

More than 1,700 people took part in an initial DEX offering for BCUG on Polkastarter. According to the project, the tokens sold out in seven minutes.

At present, the DeFi and NFT mechanics set out by the project remain in development — and the first elements are expected to appear in the game within weeks. In-game payments will initially arrive, followed by liquidity mining and farming. The DAO will then be gradually released in three phases between now and the end of the year.

Standing out from the crowd

With more than one year of playable content in the Blockchain Cuties Universe, developers say that gamers who get involved with this exciting project have plenty to look forward to. The platform says Cuties are among the most customizable NFTs on the market, with millions of potential combinations when it comes to body parts and colors among eight different species. More than 970 unique-looking items are also available in the game.

Better still, any character or person can be transformed into a Blockchain Cutie — and players have the chance to order custom, personal in-game characters based on their actual appearance.

No game is complete without an engaged, enthusiastic community. Blockchain Cuties Universe hopes the arrival of BCUG will ensure its project evolves in line with what users want, and that the governance system will become part of the core gameplay going forward.

What is the Metaverse? The Metaverse is a term coined by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 science fiction novel Snow Crash to describe a future virtual reality-based online world. Some have gone as far as pronouncing Stephenson’s novel a prediction of the future. Before you agree that it’s some mystical peek into the future and invoke the rules of time travel, let’s first investigate what the Metaverse is through the lens of something much more accessible: Minecraft. But, more on this later. Unlike the internet or even virtual reality as we know it today, the Metaverse would be a fully …

The DeFi revolution is like cooking a recipe
In the last two months, the decentralized finance industry has seen a dramatic surge of interest, as new platforms promising to disrupt the way people manage their money, transact, earn and entertain themselves have launched in rapid succession in recent months. Much of this growth has been catalyzed by the meteoric rise of DeFi lending platforms like MakerDAO and Aave, which together now compose more than 40% of the DeFi market. But a wave of new DeFi products that are targeting practically every traditional and digital industry is now making the rounds, expanding the benefits of DeFi to casual consumers …

Mark Cuban issues burn notice on offensive ENS domain
Someone sent Mark Cuban a profane Ethereum Name Service domain a few days ago. After observant Twitter users recently tracked down his ether address, it was only a matter of time before a wave of unwanted spam transactions made their way into his account. This is, after all, the internet. Here there be monsters. While it isn’t entirely clear what the presumed troll’s endgame was, the word was nonetheless offensive enough to raise some eyebrows at Cointelegraph, and we don’t intend to reprint it here. Suffice to say, a decent person would not want to be known as the owner …

How to convert your digital art into NFTs and sell it
What is an NFT? NFTs are nonfungible tokens. The adjective “nonfungible” is often used in economics to represent features such as uniqueness and non-interchangeability. In the crypto space, nonfungibility simply indicates that one item cannot be exchanged for another. A “token” as a unit of account is basically a certificate of validity stored on the decentralized blockchain, making digital assets traceable and accessible to everyone. As a result, NFTs are a one-of-a-kind virtual currency that can fall into pretty much any category and usually take the shape of paintings, videos, music, collectible items in video games or any other type …
