Capital International Group, a $2.3 trillion asset manager headquartered in Los Angeles, has acquired a 12.2% stake in MicroStrategy — making it one of the largest indirect investors in Bitcoin (BTC) on the planet. According to a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, Capital International Group now holds 953,242 MSTR stock worth roughly $560 million at current prices. Shares of Riot Blockchain (RIOT) and other cryptocurrency miners sold off sharply on Thursday, as Bitcoin’s (BTC) gravitational pull on the market continued to broaden. RIOT declined by as much as 14.4% during Thursday’s session, extending its losing streak to four days. The stock has declined 29% over that stretch and is down over 44% from its all-time closing high on February 17. At the time of writing, RIOT had pared most of its daily losses to trade above $43.00. Metromile Inc., a digital insurer headquartered in San Francisco, is making Bitcoin (BTC) a core part of its business operations, offering further evidence of the growing mainstream adoption of digital assets.
