Bitcoin (BTC) may continue to consolidate until Q1 of 2022. With $2.5 billion liquidated in the cryptocurrency market this week, should investors still be optimistic about the current cycle?Bitcoin dipped just below $50,000 as Evergrande defaulted. The Chinese property development giant may have caused Bitcoin’s most recent price drop. Will this price point serve as firm support?$1.1 billion in Bitcoin options expire on Friday, and things are not looking good for the bulls. Find out what the numbers tell us before this month’s expiry.

After the market news update, the hosts chat with special guest Ran Neuner, co-founder and CEO of Onchain Capital and founder of “Crypto Banter,” about how investors should approach big corrections, which altcoins and gaming tokens to look out for, and whether the current market is one big buying opportunity.

Using insights from Cointelegraph Markets Pro, a platform for crypto traders who want to stay one step ahead of the market, the Cointelegraph experts identify two altcoins that stood out this week: 1INCH and XTZ.

Finally, Cointelegraph market analyst Jordan Finneseth discusses why the typical 4 year market cycle may be lengthening. Are we currently witnessing it? With institutions showing more and more interest in cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin, such as NFTs, gaming tokens, and the metaverse, will it be another year before a true bear market?

Altcoin Roundup: Crypto indexes offer broad access, but are they profitable in the long run?
The cryptocurrency market is known for its high volatility and the wild-west nature of the space is, in part, due to many of the assets having small market caps and the 24/7 operational hours of centralized and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). In addition to being high risk, crypto trading can also be a very time-intensive process. It can be an overwhelming task and a barrier to entry for most investors in determining which tokens to invest in. For these investors, index investing could be a profitable alternative for gaining exposure to some of the hottest sectors of the cryptocurrency market. Here’s …

Ether already ‘flippening’ Bitcoin, says Celsius CEO
Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has already started losing its market dominance to Ether (ETH), according to Celsius Network CEO Alex Mashinsky. In a Monday interview with Kitco News, Mashinsky argued that the Ether “flippening,” or the hypothetical scenario in which Ether overtakes Bitcoin as the world’s most valued cryptocurrency, is already happening right now. Mashinsky said that the flippening has already happened on Celsius. “We manage about $17 billion in deposits, or in customer coins, and the number one coin held in dollar terms is Ethereum,” he said. Mashinsky also predicted that Ether will have completely …

Theta, Aavegotchi (GHST) hit new highs as Bitcoin price chases after $50K
Bitcoin (BTC) bulls appear to have found their momentum as BTC price reclaimed the $49,000 level within the last hour. On March 2 the price dropped as low as $47,000 but currently, BTC is trading above the 20-day moving average. Bulls are likely to make another attempt at flipping the $50,000 resistance to support and a sustained high volume spike could send the price to $52,000 where a daily close would confirm that bulls are back in the driver's seat. Even though Bitcoin is struggling to secure a daily close above $50,000, a steady thread of favorable news continues to …

Ethereum white paper predicted DeFi but missed NFTs: Vitalik Buterin
Rounding up the last decade, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin revisited his predictions made over the years, showcasing a knack for being right about abstract ideas than on-production software development issues. Buterin started the Twitter thread by addressing his article dated Jul. 23, 2013 in which he highlighted Bitcoin's (BTC) key benefits — internationality and censorship resistance. Buterin foresaw Bitcoin’s potential in protecting the citizens’ buying power in countries such as Iran, Argentina, China and Africa. However, Buterin also noticed a rise in stablecoin adoption as he saw Argentinian businesses operating in Tether (USDT). He backed up his decade-old ideas around …

Top 5 cryptocurrencies to watch this week: BTC, MANA, MKR, ZEC, KCS
Bitcoin (BTC) has been relatively calm during the weekend as crypto traders try to rebuild the markets after the Terra LUNA debacle. With macro factors not supportive, several analysts expect the recovery to be a slow grind. Crypto research firm Delphi Digital said in a recent report that the rally in the United States dollar index (DXY) had pushed its 14-month relative strength index “above 70 for the first time since its late 2014 to 2016 run up.” Historically, 11 out of 14 such instances had resulted in the DXY rising about 5.7% over the following 12 months. If the …
