Burger King Starts Accepting Bitcoin for Online Orders in Germany

The German arm of global fast-food chain Burger King now accepts Bitcoin (BTC) payments on its delivery website and mobile application.

Despite BTC's sudden apperarance on its official website, it is unclear whether Bitcoin is also accepted in the 600 physical Burger King restaurants across Germany.

BK embraces crypto again

In summer 2017, Burger King Russia announced it will start accepting Bitcoin payments, and then introduced their own virtual currency called Whoppercoin. Also in 2017, BTC started to be accepted by a restaurant in Arnhem, a city in the Netherlands.

According to Crunchbase, Burger King launched in 1954 and is headquarted in Florida. The company now boasts 13,000 locations and serves 11 million customers a day in 98 countries worldwide. The chain has estimated annual revenues of $1.7 billion.

Major American grocer Kroger to accept Bitcoin Cash
American grocery store chain Kroger is accepting cryptocurrency payments ahead of the holiday season. According to an official announcement on Nov. 5, the major retailer will accept Bitcoin Cash (BCH) at all of its stores — Baker's, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, QFC and others — as well as for online purchases. Landry’s Restaurant Group to introduce Bitcoin loyalty program
Landry’s Restaurant Group announced a partnership with cryptocurrency firm NYDIG on Tuesday that will enable diners to earn $25 worth of Bitcoin for every $250 spent at the hospitality conglomerate’s eateries. Landry’s will also begin keeping a portion of its corporate treasury reserves in Bitcoin under the care of NYDIG. Opera Becomes First Major Browser to Enable Direct Bitcoin Payments
Web browser Opera now allows making payments with Bitcoin (BTC) directly inside the browser. The company announced the news in a press release shared with Cointelegraph on Oct. 21, detailing that Opera’s 350 million users can now send and receive BTC directly from the browser, as well as use the cryptocurrency for purchasing goods and services on e-commerce websites.
